On Saturday, March 25, 2023, Mrs. Carrie Mae Hines, of Darlington, passed from time to eternity.

Carrie Mae Hines, daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Hines Jr. and Mrs. Mabel Maxwell Hines was born May 3, 1938 in Long County, Georgia. She united with her Savior early, Saturday morning March 25, 2023, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.

Carrie received her formal education in the Long County School System, Ludowici, Georgia and attended Walker High School. She was self-employed as a proud domestic worker and later worked and retired at New Community Corporation in Newark, New Jersey as a healthcare attendant.

At the age of eighteen, Carrie moved to New York for better job opportunity where she met her soulmate, and later moved to Newark, New Jersey.

Carrie was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, under the leadership of Pastor David Jefferson Sr. Esq., she enjoyed taking care of her plants, cleaning, listening to music, dancing, playing card games, going to the casino, and watching basketball of her favorite team, the NY Knicks; but most of all; Carrie loved partying.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, soulmate, James Albert Barbour Sr., son, Anthony William Barbour Sr., stepsons; Michael Barbour, Augustus Barbour Sr. and Gino Redden, stepdaughters; Beatrice Barbour Alford and Michelle Barbour, approximately 18 – 22 siblings; among those were sisters; Elnora Black, Inez Hines, Winnie Lee Hines Register, Mary Lee Hines Register, Della Mae Black, and Joeretha Hines, brothers; Alexander Hines, Edward Hines, Victor Hines, and two nephews, William Register Jr. and Von Sherman.

Carrie leavers to cherish her memories, her loving daughter, Vernadette Barbour-Godfrey,  one sister, Victoria Hines-Jenkins of Glennville, GA, six grandchildren; Donte Burgess, Anthony William Barbour Jr., Marcus Johnson, LaShenda Barbour, Shae Barbour, and Donnella Barbour, four great-grandchildren; Jamai Robinson, Isayah Barbour, Lennox Barbour, and Layla Barbour. Daughter in-law, Lillian Barbour of Killeen, TX, stepsons; James Albert (Prenetha) Barbour of Brooklyn, NY and Dearlmont Barbour of Bronx, NY. Very special nephew, Robert Register of Falls Church, VA, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family & friends.
