Christopher Bernard Andrews was born May 3, 1972 to Louis and Brenda Phillips Andrews. He went to his eternal home in the early morning of Thursday, January, 19, 2023

He received his education in the Public Schools of Darlington County, graduating from Mayo High School in the class of 1990. He started out trying to play football but was always afraid of “those big boys breaking my little bones”. He ended up joining the Mayo High School Marching Band as a drummer for four years. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and served several years before being honorably discharged.

Bernard joined Cherry Grove Baptist Church and was baptized in May, 1993. While there, he faithfully attended Sunday School, ushered  and sang on the choir. Each Wednesday, for years, Bernard could be counted on to transport food from Harvest Hope to Cherry Grove’s Food Ministry until he was no longer needed.

At the age of 16 Bernard began spending time in the Barber Shop with his dad and it wasn’t long before he became an excellent licensed barber. After his dad passed, he along with  Brad, his brother/friend and Lee Lighty, (deceased), successfully continued the legacy of his dad at Andrews’ Barber Shop. He was a very giving young man and often gave free haircuts to those who could not afford to pay.

Bernard loved cooking, fishing, and frying turkeys at Thanksgiving and Christmas for his friends and family. His many friends always teased him about his sorry Miami Dolphins but he continued to remain faithful to his Miami Dolphins. He loved his family and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his aunties. His last request was to see his mom and her sisters together and with the help of his cousins, in October, 2022, his request was granted. Nothing gave him more pleasure than to grill and watch his family enjoy his cooking. His multitude of friends were his “other family”.  He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends, and customers.

Those left to share memories of his life are: his mom and step-father, Brenda and Jerome (Mr. G) Goodson; daughters, Shakeya Andrews and Shaikiel Andrews;  sisters, Jessica (Kendall) Brigman, Moneak Knox,  Latisha Pierce, and Genise Breathett; brothers, Dion Murray and Elijah Williams: aunts Barbara Roberson, Juanita (Wallace) Pearson, Lydia Kirven, Doris Johnson, and Rowena Phillips; uncles, Kirby Andrews, Bobby (Shirley) Andrews, David Andrews, and Willie James Andrews;  grand uncles Bobby (Gladys General; cousins that were like sisters, other cousins, relatives and good friends too numerous to name.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Louis Andrews, his grandparents, Melvin and Geneva General Phillips and Charlie and Mary Andrews; several aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved dearly.
