Homegoing celebration for Deacon Thomas “TJ” McCall, Jr, of Darlington, will be Sunday, July 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Mount Rona Baptist Church, 245 Lumber Road, Society Hill, SC 29593. Interment in the church cemetery.
Public viewing will be Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 12:00 NOON - 5:00 pm. A family hour will be from 4:00 PM -5 :00 PM in the Washington and Charlotte C. Jordan Memorial Chapel, 108 Lee Street, Darlington, SC 29532.

DEACON THOMAS "J" MCCALL, the handsome and charming son of the late Tom McCall and Rosa
Lee Williams-McCall was born September 10, 1940 in Darlington County, Mt. Clair Area.
He heard the voice of Jesus saying, Come unto me and rest, and he entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.
Thomas was a graduate of Rosenwald High School, class of 1959. After he graduated, he furthered his education at South Carolina Trade School, where his major was shoe repair, and he then attended Florence-Darlington Technical College, majoring in business.
He was emploved for two years at
Darlington Shoe Shop. He decided to go into business for himself and proudly owned and operated TJ's Shoe Clinic for over fifty vears.
He enlisted in the United States Army October 11, 1963 and was honorably discharged from military duties November 10, 1965.
He was a faithful and dutiful member of Mt. Rona Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, chairman of the deacon board, deacon emeritus, Sunday School teacher, male chorus member, and youth leader serving with his wife.
In high school. "TJ" loved being a bus driver. He was inducted into the Rosenwald High School Order of the Golden Eagle in 2010 and charter inductee into the Rosenwald Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He was a Mason and a member of the NAACP. "TJ" loved baseball. His favorite team was the L.A. Dodgers, and he was an admirer of Tuskegee Airman
He was united in Holv Matrimony to Betty Beasley in 1966.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Tom and Rosa Lee, his loving wife, Betty McCall, and his brothers;
Walter McCall, Sr.. Jerome McCall, Sr.. James Sanders McCall, Lessie McCall, Johnny McCall, and Presley Gibson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: two children: Antonio (Mona) McCall of Darlington. SC and Darren (Teresa) McCall of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren; Antonio McCall, Jonathan McCall, Nikki Gibson, Brittney McCall, and David Taylor Cordone, great-grandchildren; Jozee, Harmony, Heartly, Alahna, and Kassidy, one brother; Ernest (Josephine) McCall of Darlington, SC, three sisters; Jerline Lowry of Dovesville. SC. Ruth Wilson of Yeadon, PA, and Sharon (Rufus) Moore of Convers. GA, one aunt.
Katherine McCall of Darlington, SC, sisters-in-law; Rosa Lee Beasley, Parneatha McCall, Eloise McCall, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
