James Leo Johnson, Jr.

On Thursday, February 9, 2023,  Mr. James L. Johnson, Jr. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formerly of Darlington, passed from time to eternity.  

Homegoing celebration for Mr. James L. Johnson, Jr. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formerly of Darlington, will be Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:30 PM at the Spaulding Middle School, 400 Cartersville Highway, Lamar, SC 29069. Interment will follow at Faith Memorial Gardens.  

Public viewing will be Friday, February 24, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM at the Washington and Charlotte C. Jordan Memorial Chapel, 108 Lee Street, Darlington, S.C. 29532.

Mr. James Leo Johnson Jr. the son of the late Mr & Mrs James L. Johnson Sr. and Darlene Samuel-Johnson was born August 15, 1976 at Wilson Hospital Clinic in Darlington, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life to return to the arms of his father in heaven, February 9, 2023. 

  James received his education in the Darlington County School System. He graduated from Lamar High School, Class of 1995.

   BJ was a hard worker and a dedicated husband, father and friend. He was loved by all those he came in contact with. He will be remembered for his tough love, blunt honesty, his strong comforting embrace and most of all his great taste in music.

James worked at Pregis as a Material handler and forklift operator in Sussex, Wisconsin. Until his untimely passing. He loved his job and impacted so many lives during his three years there.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Siblings; Sierra Johnson and Jerome Johnson. Grandparents; Leroy Johnson, Lillie Mae Johnson, Gladis Samuel and Jack James. His son Lorenzo  Goodman and Grandson, David J. Jenkins. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories forever; his wife. Erica Davis-Johnson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Six children: Starquasia Johnson of Lamar, South Carolina. Alexis Lowery of Florence, South Carolina. Taniqua Johnson of Timmonsville. South Carolina. Shaquanna Johnson of Orangeburg, South Carolina. Jermeus Johnson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Xavier Johnson of Roland, North Carolina. Three stepchildren; Samiya , Monay and Devin Davis.

Three Grandchildren; Collia Lowery, Jewels Lowery and Ery’Onna Keith of Florence, South Carolina. Two sisters: Audrey Johnson of Darlington, South Carolina. Kisha Williams of Columbia, South Carolina. One Brother, Leroy Williams of Darlington, South Carolina.

Special aunts; Bernetha Thomas, Janette Waiters, Edell Johnson and Valerie Wright of Darlington, South Carolina. Special cousins; Roger Hickson of Timmonsville, South Carolina. Anthony Scipio and Ivander James of Darlington, South Carolina. Special niece Tateyanna “BJ FROG” Ford of Darlington, South Carolina. Along with a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, other relatives and friends.
