James Lee "Hollywood" McFarland

On Friday March 3, 2023, Mr. James Lee "Hollywood" McFarland, of Darlington, passed from time to eternity.  

Homegoing celebration for Mr. James Lee “Hollywood” McFarland will be Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the New Zion Deliverance Baptist Church, 1740 North Governor Williams Highway, Darlington, SC 29540. Interment in the church cemetery.  Public viewing will be Friday, March 10, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM at the Washington and Charlotte C. Jordan Memorial Chapel, 108 Lee Street, Darlington, S.C. 29532. The family will be receiving friends at 411 Wells Street, Apt. 3, Darlington, SC 29532. At Jordan, we are privileged to serve the family. James Lee McFarland, son of  the late James and Virginia McFarland Jackson, was born in Darlington County on January 30, 1964. He entered into eternal rest on March 3, 2023.

Hollywood, as he was affectionately called, received his education in the Public Schools of Darlington County, graduating from St. John High School Class of 1982. He was a member of the St. John Blue Devil Basketball Team.

He was employed with IGA, Clanton Auto Auction, Car Care Wash and B & B Restaurant of Darlington.

He was previously a member of Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church. 

He enjoyed riding his bike, washing cars and spending time with friends and family and watching his Commander, formerly known as Washington Red Skins, play.

Hollywood leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Roshawn (Tanisha) Brown of Hartsville, SC and Kwon Thomas of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Ebony (Tarrell) Ross of Raleigh, NC  and Melody Williams of Florence, SC; one sister, Teronia Jackson of Darlington, SC; two brothers,  Boyd (Shirley) Jackson and Freddie (Sandra); a special friend of twenty years, Tasha Brown all of Darlington, SC; special cousins, James Lucky, Kent McFarland, Johnny McFarland; special schoolmates, Joseph Muldrow, and Maxie Jacobs; nine grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Hollywood was preceded in death by: his mother, Virginia McFarland; his father, James Henderson; his step-father Boyd Lee Jackson and two brothers,  Jimmy Lee Henderson and Curtis Lee Henderson.
