Remembering Ike….
On June 4, 2023, Isaac Lee departed this life at home in the Syracuse Community,
Darlington, SC, while under Hospice Home Care. Isaac was born on September 20,
1955 to Otis and Bertha Lee of Lamar, South Carolina. He attended the Lamar
area schools and graduated from Lamar High School. Isaac always loved playing
basketball and usually had a basketball in his hands. He even designed a full court
basketball court across the road from his house where many came to enjoy playing
the game.
After graduating high school, Isaac enlisted in the United States Army. He later
returned home and was employed for many years by Lynn’s Meats and Produce in
the Syracuse Community. Affectionately called “Ike”, he was an excellent
gardener. He enjoyed planting, nurturing and watching his garden and plants grow.
He took great pride in offering his okra and other vegetables for others to enjoy.
His “green thumb” was quite evident and his plants thrived. “Ike” also enjoyed
fishing and other sports.
“Ike” is survived by a daughter, Gloria Jean Sparks; one brother, George A. Lee of
the home; four sisters: Grace (Conley) Shaw of Darlington, SC; Dianne (Ray)
Wright of Lamar, SC; Betty (Donnie) Roderick of Irmo, SC; and Hattie (Garrett)
Sanders of Florence, SC; one grandchild , one great grand child and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis
Lee, Sr., and Bertha Ratliff Lee; a sister, Sara J. Lee McElveen; five brothers:
David G. Lee, John Lee, James C. Lee, Otis Lee, Jr., and Howard P. Lee.
