On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, Mr. Nicholas DiShawn Johnson, of Darlington, passed from time to eternity.

Homegoing celebration for Mr. Nicholas DiShawn Johnson, of Darlington, will be Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Darlington Middle School Gymnasium, 150 Pinedale Dr, Darlington, SC 29532. Interment at Faith Memorial Gardens.

Public viewing will be Friday, June 16, 2023, from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM at the Washington and Charlotte C. Jordan Memorial Chapel, 108 Lee Street, Darlington, SC 29532.

The Legend Nefew

Let me tell you how I, Nicholas Dishawn Johnson, was born a legend. It was on April 7, 1998 my dad, Mr. Dean Johnson and my mom, who is with me now, Trashea Copeland gave birth to a star that will never stop shining in your hearts.  I loved growing up in Darlington, with my family and friends.

I  graduated  in 2017 from Darlington High School, this was a joyful time. After high school, I obtained my certification as a fork-lift driver and worked at various facilities through a staffing agency. When I made my transition to greatness, I was obtaining a welding degree from Florence Darlington Technical College.

I know I was named Nicholas, but many knew me as “nefew” Johnson. I was created and best known for my outgoing personality and the ability to light up any room I stepped in.  You all know whether it was me dancing or just being goofy I was sure to put a smile on your face. To my father, I was a loyal son, to my children I was a loving father,  for my siblings I was a caring brother,  for my aunts and uncles I was their favorite nephew, to my cousins I was the beloved cousin, and I was a friend to the end for my friends. Please remember that I loved hard and made sure everyone knew that I loved them either by my words and actions.

Besides my mother, Trashea Copeland; I have gone to join my maternal great grandfather, Lee Henderson; paternal great grandmother, Mary Agnes Johnson; paternal great grandfather, Elliott Johnson and Ja’Keith Peterson.

I know it may seem I left too early, but just know I can do more as an angel for my children and I could physically as their father. I will be watching forever, those who will make my legend- a legacy, my Children: Jaylin Johnson, Jada Johnson, Jayceon Johnson, Tae’lor Johnson; his father, Dean Johnson; Step Father: Travis Johnson; special friend: Ilasia Scott; Siblings: Sahmya Johnson, Sintel Johnson, Nazyria Johnson, Traeveon Johnson; Grandparents: maternal grandmother, Lera Issac; Paternal grandmother, Elaine Johnson; maternal grandfather, Henry Copeland; maternal Great grandmother, Betty Henderson; Aunts and Uncles: Tia (Gary) Copeland, Trekia Patterson, Brandon Copeland, Bradley Copeland, Arielle Cockfield, Dana (Bryan) Johnson-McRavin; special Cousins: Eric Henderson, Aaron Hall, Kiana Hall, Nyles McRavin; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends are left to share my memories.
