Homegoing celebration for Mr. Robert “Bobby” Black, Sr. will be Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Bethel AME Church,1321 South Main Street, Darlington, SC 29532. Interment will follow at Faith Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM at the Washington and Charlotte C. Mr. Robert Louis “Bobby” Black, Sr. enter the world on December the 26th 1943 in Darlington SC he is the son of the late Mr. Leroy and Mrs. Annie Davis Black. He departed this life on Friday March 3, 2023 at his residence.
At an early age he attended Bethel AME Church. He is a proud graduate of the Mayo High School Class of 1963. Bobby as he was affectionally called relocated to New York and retired from the New York Sanitation Department with 21 years of service.
After relocating back to his home, Bobby rejoined by home church which he loved, Bethel AME Church. At Bethel, he was very active and faithful.
In his spare time, he loved singing, dancing and walking. Bobby loved Jean and his children and family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding him to the grave are his parents, Mr. Leroy and Mrs. Annie Davis Black. His children, Roberta Black and Shane Smith. His siblings Rose Shephard, Mary Warren, Hannah Bonaparte, Sarah Harewood, Oscar Black, Ronald Black, David Black, and Chris Black.
Forever cherishing his memory is his loving companion, Jean Black; his children, Maria Black, Linda Simpson, Robert Black, Jr., Andrea (Willie) Townsend; grandchildren, Shikia, Tramel, Tyron, Kataya, Lamar, Ty-Shawn, John, Shaniqua, Kevin, Charles, Shatavia, Angela, RoBrea, Mya, Kenneth, Robrean, Briana, Kalik, Nick, Robert, Dominique, His siblings, Thomas (Barbara) Black, Gloria Black, Lanora (Al) Black, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, the Bethel Church family and the Mayo Class of 1963.
